YES on Q: Locally Controlled Funding for School Improvements

Vote YES on Measure Q to make a lasting, positive impact upon our children, grandchildren, schools and neighborhoods. Good schools maintain the quality of life in our community and produce an educated workforce, resulting in reduced crime and strong home values.

 

Measure Q will provide locally controlled funding to repair failing plumbing, sewer and electrical systems and improve classrooms to meet modern standards for career education, science, technology, engineering and math.

YES on Q for Safe and Clean Classrooms for All Students and Educators

Measure Q will provide the locally controlled funding needed to upgrade local schools. Funding from Measure Q could be used to:

  • Update school safety and security systems

  • Improve access to 21st-century learning in science, technology, engineering and math

  • Repair deteriorating schools, including removing asbestos and lead paint

  • Replace plumbing systems and provide safe drinking water access at all schools

  • Ensure access for students with disabilities

  • Upgrade electrical wiring and educational technology to support high-quality instruction

 

Transparency and Fiscal Accountability Ensure Every Penny Supports Classrooms
  • By law, 100% of Measure Q must support Long Beach Unified schools

  • A citizens’ oversight committee, annual audits and detailed project list are mandatory

  • Measure Q cannot fund administrators’ salaries
