  • What will Measure B do?
    If approved by voters, Measure B will: Keep library branches from being closed Repair leaking roofs, siding, and replace deteriorating foundations and HVAC systems Increase book and ebook collections Maintain library services for aging adults, residents with disabilities and families Maintain library hours and 24/7 online library access
  • Why do we need Measure B?
    Many of our library facilities are over 50 years old and need essential repairs and upgrades to support current safety and technological standards. Additionally, renewing Measure B will maintain library programs for youth, aging adults and residents with disabilities. Measure B supports computer and internet access for residents who do not have access at home, school, or work.
  • How do our Marin County Libraries support our community?
    For 95 years the Marin County Free Library has been a vital resource throughout Marin County. The County library system has grown to 10 branches throughout the County as well as two outreach vehicles: our Bookmobile and our Learning Bus (a free preschool on wheels). In addition to books and digital collections, the Marin County Free Library provides heavily relied-upon services for aging adults, students and families who are trying to improve their lives, 24/7 online access to materials, as well as free internet access, computers and technology training.
  • What fiscal accountability protections are included in Measure B?
    All funds must be used for Marin County library services Independent citizens’ oversight and annual audits ensure funds are spent as promised Businesses in Marin County would be paying their fair share and it will not fall solely on homeowners to foot the bill
  • Could Measure B funds be taken by the State?
    All Measure B funds will remain under local control to support Marin County libraries and nothing can be cut by the State or redirected for other purposes.
  • Will senior homeowners still be eligible for an exemption from this measure?
    Yes! All homeowners over the age of 65 are eligible for an exemption from the cost of Measure B, just as they were before. To learn more about the exemption process, please visit the MCFL website at https://marinlibrary.org/exemptions/.
  • When can I vote Yes on B?
    Measure B will appear on the November 8, 2022 ballot. All registered voters should expect to receive their ballots in the mail the week of October 10.
  • What level of support does Measure B need to pass?
    In order to pass, Measure B must receive two-thirds approval from those who cast a vote on the measure.
  • Who can vote on Measure B?
    The Marin County Free Library serves the unincorporated communities of Marin in addition to the cities of Fairfax, Novato and Corte Madera. All registered voters in those areas will be eligible to vote on Measure B.
  • How do I find my polling place?
    Voters are eligible to vote at any vote center in Marin County. You can find a list of vote centers here: https://www.marincounty.org/depts/rv.
  • How do I get involved?
