Vote YES on W for Excellent High Schools

Sequoia Union High School District proudly serves nearly 9,000 students in our Bay Area communities, including Atherton, Belmont, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Portola Valley, Redwood City, San Carlos and Woodside. However, three of our main high schools were built in the 1950s, and the original Sequoia campus was built in the 1920s. Since then, building, safety and education standards have changed. Some of the schools still contain asbestos and lead pipes, while others need to be retrofitted for earthquake safety.

Several schools are so old they have inadequate ventilation, radiator heaters, small classrooms and an insufficient number of electrical outlets. Our kids deserve improved learning conditions and technology to excel now and in the future. As temperatures rise, classrooms get too hot and current ventilation systems are not sufficient to ensure healthy, smoke-free air for students and educators.

Measure W provides locally controlled funding to repair and update our high schools, ensuring all students have equal access to safe and up-to-date learning environments. In addition, maintaining excellent local high schools keeps our communities and property values strong.
